[Personality]
Haruki comes off as distant and a man of few words if you were someone he didn't find comfort in. He typically is closed off from others and prefers not to get too close with someone. He doesn't mind being friends but the moment you get too close he can completely cut you short from going any farther. He doesn't have any ill-intent but just thinks it's better for him if he doesn't get too close with someone. Most people have a hard time figuring out why he's like that, because even then he doesn't really like to talk about himself much. He just thinks there isn't really anything interesting for him to talk about. Though he would not ignore you should you speak to him, and he would kindly talk to you back. Don't expect him to be the one to start a conversation though. He over thinks a lot of things, even if the answer is right in front of him. It's a bad habit of his, and he can't really seem to stop it. He needs to know all the after effects that would happen before he does something. Even in the end he won't have a clear answer for himself. He often needs someone to put some common sense into him, because he can't do it himself. A good hit makes him come back to himself. By default he is generous and would show his respect to you unless you pushed him to a point he couldn't take it. That being said, he's pretty weak-willed and isn't the person that would jump headfirst into a situation. He plays off this attitude of being 'distant' but can easily crumble should you decided to insult him. He's pretty self conscious and tries his best not to upset anyone. He gives awkward smiles most of the time, and typically his expressions don't match his words. He has trouble expressing himself because he doesn't want anyone to get hurt by what he says. Generally most people are on his good side.
Push the wrong buttons though, and he can go back to being distant.
[History]
"People change....for better or for worse."
Haruki lived a pretty simple life, as he would put it anyways. He had caring parents that would scold or dote on him at anytime of the day. He had an older brother also, whom he somewhat got along with. The Haruki you would know today would seem different from when he was younger. He was reckless and a troublemaker before. He often caused trouble for every single person he met, and found no reason to dislike that life. He just hanged with the round crowd really, and thought no mind to what other people thought or said. They lived in the countryside where there wasn't much to see, and he was a kid who watched too much tv and shows and wanted to live in the city. The country seemed boring to him, and the fact that everyone knew each other was even more annoying. Then again, if you were a kid who ruined someones day all the time who wouldn't remember you?
He had a close friend who was his neighbor and was someone who followed along Haruki no matter what. They were childhood friends of course, both living and dreaming of going out to see the world. They even made a promise to see the world together as children. She was sweet and kind, often scolding him most of the time for being reckless and hanging with the wrong people. He would brush her off and tell her it wasn't any of her business. Trying his best to seem 'cool' to his friends. Despite how mean he was, she still stuck with him. She felt as if she had to look over him. Haruki didn't think much of the friendship at first, thinking that 'it was only because they were neighbors'. Often thinking her kindness should have limits and she should of left him already. That was cruel on his part when he told her that one time, and she ended up hitting him across the face. Telling him that her kindness wasn't just for anyone. He didn't think much of it at first, thinking she was overreacting. Until she left him. Her parents had to leave for a job and she went with them. He didn't realize how important that friend was until she left the town and he was left alone. 'Please forget about me.' Were the last words she told him, before handing him the necklace he wears on a daily basis. A reminder of the mistake he did. He can't take back what happened, and lost contact with her since then,
That was probably the moment he wanted to turn a new leaf. Realizing his mistake with being so cruel to people. His 'friends' left him as well because of his change of heart, and it was just him and the peaceful sound of rain. It rained often where he lived, and he ended up feeling peace in it. Even if it seemed lonely, he went forward with a distant smile. Eventually, his parents wanted to move into the city and he took this as a chance to start anew.
Though he wanted to try better with people, he just became more distant. Eventually realizing that no good really came out with being close to him. He did take up the habit of joining things like Archery or Kendo. They helped to control himself whenever he was feeling upset. Though his mind was occupied by a lot of things. That was probably when he started the gaming thing. Online games where you can create characters and no one would know the real you? It was a nice escape from the real world. That being said, he did have some friends but he always just kept it as that; 'friends'. No one really went farther then just a friend, he can't really even say he has a best friend. He likes to keep it this way, doesn't say why though. He appreciates people who try hard to get closer, but in his gut he can't forgive himself for what he did.
So now here he is, in Seiki hoping for the best. Often times you'll see him wandering about in the rain with a clear umbrella. He loves it, the rain and gazing up at the sky. He's probably doing nothing but he definitely has a lot on his mind.
